Our team is extremely diverse, multicultural, and varied in experience ranging from decades of on set experience to interns fresh out of school - but the team is unified in our desire to serve our clients, and to make them successful in what they are seeking to create. The spirit and culture of Flug has created a friendly foundation for the NYC film & photographic industry.

Meet the Team

President

John Engstrom

John has been in the business for 32 years flying all over the world (about 3m miles at this point) while working for legends such as Peter Beard, David LaChapelle, and Patrick Demarchelier. He's migrated his way through every department and is now a cinematographer with a strong background in lighting.

Iris Maldonado

Iris has been at Flug for more than a decade.

Director - Lighting Dept.

Craig McGowan

Craig is a former freelancer that has worked in all aspects of film production, has climbed his way through the ranks of Scheimpflug, and now commands a tight lighting crew that is both friendly as well as professional.

Director - Camera Department

John Fishburn

A 30 year veteran in the industry - "Fish" has a strong rental background working for Panavision in LA, as well as Plus 8, as well as sales for Bandpro. He's a wealth of knowledge that is committed to serving our clients.

Deanna Archer

The former Londoner - Known as the "Velvet Hammer" - Deanna leads camera department with a soft, stylish, and graceful demeanor.

Assistant Director - Lighting

Shane Sauder

All the guys in LIC are pretty nice, but Shane is definitely a crowd favorite. We paoached him from TDU, and his former passion of being a diesel mechanic. He is the most "diesel" person on our team.

Camera Legend

Daniel has been in the industry for more than a decade. He's a true lens and cinematography nerd - if you ever want to geek out and talk about lenses - he's your man. He's also good for coffee, I think that he drinks 256 cups a day or something like this.

President Of Global Logistics

Jake hails from Florida, and moved up here during Covid after working with John on a film. He's driven a few of the trucks across the country, and is a truly gentile soul. He's the one with the messy desk and the mouse pad that has boobies as a wrist support.

Operations - Camera

Chris "Esco" ran his own production company as well as been in the rental industry for years now. He's a hard working, gracious leader with a giant heart. He puts his hands on - and checks every order on it's way out the door.

Repairs

Ramon has been with us for a very long time. He's one of the nicest, most good natured humans that you'll ever meet. He's been repairing electronics for decades.

Director - 3D Operations

Shaq has worked with us for over a decade on the bullet rig and 3d scanning / photogrammetry array. He's been in the industry for over 20 years, and he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
